Join DSA/renew membership
Membership is renewable annually from the quarter date after you join. Renewal dates are 1st February, 1st May, 1st August and 1st November of each year.
Types of membership:
- Individual
- Concessionary (retired/student/unwaged)
- Institutional
If you are new to DSA and a postgraduate student, you can register for one year's free trial membership.
Individual membership
Membership for individuals is £30 a year (from February 1st 2006). Please fill in our membership form and return it with payment or a completed standing order form to the DSA.

Concessionary membership
Concessionary membership is available to you if you are retired, unwaged, or a student (if you aren't eligible for our free trial offer). It costs £15 a year (from 1st February 2006). Please fill in our membership form and return it with payment or a completed standing order form to the DSA.

Postgraduate students can register for one year's free trial membership.
Institutional membership
For organisations with more than 3 FTE staff working on development related teaching and research, or more than one degree programme and for organisations with a turnover of more than £500,000 per year, Institutional membership is as follows:
- £300: Membership plus listing in Guide to Development Studies Courses and Guide to Development Research Capacity
- £250: Membership plus listing in one of the Guides
- £150: Membership without listing in either Guide.
For organisations with less than 3 FTE staff working on development related teaching and research, or more than one degree programme and for organisations with a turnover of less than £500,000 per year, Institutional membership is as follows:
- £125: Membership plus listing in Guide to Development Studies Courses and Guide to Development Research Capacity
- £100: Membership plus listing in one of the Guides
- £100: Membership without listing in either Guide.

You should receive a reminder to renew your membership every year. You can update your membership details or check renewal dates by contacting the DSA.
