MSc Development Management
Development Studies Institute (DESTIN), London School of Economics

This is an interdisciplinary course that enables development practitioners to deepen their understanding of the organisational and institutional problems involved in providing better services to poor people in poor countries. It provides them with an understanding of the principles governing attempts to improve organisational performance by exposing them to current debates about the nature of the incentives and accountability systems that motivate agencies operating in the public, private and voluntary sectors, and draws heavily on the practical experience of a diverse student body. It comprises a compulsory core course, a dissertation and two options from a wide choice. Teaching is through lectures, seminars and workshops. Assessment is by examination, dissertation and various forms of continuous assessment.
