Public Administration and Development (Distance Learning only)
International Development Department (IDD), University of Birmingham

The Public Administration and Development programme (available by distance learning only) provides public managers and administrators with the key skills they need to operate in the public sector in a developing or transitional country context. It explores: current trends in public administration and governance; civil service reforms, (working in partnerships, contracting, etc); leadership in public administration; policy making; public finance; how to adapt public administration concepts to a variety of economic, institutional, geographic and cultural settings; and communication and co-ordination in a global context.

Entry requirements

Candidates should have a good Honours degree, or equivalent from an approved university (or an equivalent professional qualification in a related field). Degrees from all disciplines are considered. A candidate’s work experience is also taken into consideration.



Start and finish dates

Intakes in November, February and May each year. Course lasts 2-4 years
