BSc Hons International Development (L790)
School of Development Studies / Overseas Development Group

This degree introduces contemporary issues in international development with a natural science perspective. In Year 1 students take Introduction to Development Studies alongside Data in Development Studies and follow 2 main themes, one is Natural Resources and the other chosen from: Economics for Development or Social Analysis for Development (Sociology, Politics and Anthropology). In Year 2 students continue with their 2 main themes in addition to a choice of Topical and Regional courses. There is a compulsory Field Trip for 2 weeks at the end of Year 2. In Year 3 students write a Dissertation (research project) on a development topic of personal interest with a scientific approach. BSc students take the compulsory course Resource Development and Conservation and have further choices from Topical and Regional courses.

Entry requirements
All candidates must hold 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade C or above including Maths and English A Level: BBB (Need at least one Science subject. These include biology, physics, chemistry, economics, geography, geology, environmental science and mathematic) Two AS-levels will be accepted in lieu of one A2-level.
