The Sustainable Human Development Study Group of Human Development and Capability Association is organising two sessions to debate the interface between power/practice and evidence/policy in the context of environmental and social sustainability in the post 2015 development agenda.
The event will be part of the joint workshop on April 5-6, 2013 on Power, Evidence, Policy and Practice with the DSA/EADI Study Group on Multidimensional Poverty and Poverty Dynamics and DSA NGOs in Development Study Group and will take place at the University of East London. The two Sustainable Human Development, HDCA sessions will focus on environmental sustainability as well as social sustainability to debate the role of evidence in influencing policy and how notions of power affect practice.
Increasingly the interconnectedness between the social and the environmental dimensions is becoming the theoretical underpinning for taking forward the understanding of sustainable human development in the post 2015 debates. Researchers are invited to present case studies, conceptual and empirical work to further the understanding of this interface within the Capability
Please submit abstracts of 300-500 words to Andrew Crabtree and Meera Tiwari by March 4th 2013. We encourage sharing of work in progress, draft findings and ideas in conception. We very much look forward to your participation and hope to have some funds to cover presenter's travel if these are not available from your institution.
