Ian McFarlane's interest in Development Studies
After a career in instrumentation and process control for bakeries and other food manufacturing operations, I studied for a second PhD in Food and Agricultural Economics at the University of Reading (my first PhD was in Physics, at Lancaster University in the 1960s). This has enabled me to acquire professional experience of Bayesian Statistics, economic modelling of livestock diseases, and the economics of transgenic arable crops, including crops for biofuels; I am enjoying participation in the publication of various papers on these topics.
