Development Ethics
Ethical judgements are at the heart of development studies. What constitutes 'good' social change? What is the aim that development should pursue? Do higher incomes and employment levels offset environment losses? How to decide on the allocation and use of limited environmental resources? Yet, the normative underpinnings of development are hardly made explicit in development studies. The Ethics and Sustainable Development Study Group aims at discussing these questions explicitly in the context of environmental sustainability.
