DSA2019: Opening up Development
The Open University, Milton Keynes, 19-21 June
The funding call is now CLOSED. No more applications will be accepted. The funding committee are now reviewing all the applications and we will communicate their decisions to all applicants by email by 2 April.
Through generous awards from the Journal of Development Studies, the Open University and the DSA, the DSA2019 conference organisers are able to allocate support funds to help with accepted authors’ and accepted convenors' attendance.
The rules and criteria are straightforward:
- ALL applications must be submitted via the online form.
- Only authors with accepted papers or convenors with accepted panels/roundtables at DSA2019 may apply.
- Applicants should not seek 'double-funding' (i.e. you already have full funding from another source). Our aim is to support those who only have partial funding from another source or have no funding at all.
- Requests for funding may NOT be to cover DSA membership subscriptions.
Prioritisation of this support will, in order, be for those who are both from the global South and based at institutions in the global South, early career academics, students and those with exceptional circumstances. As the OU funds come from GCRF, research on or in DAC listed countries will also be prioritised.
No request for funding is guaranteed as we expect demand to be greater than the availability of support
We will endeavour to make and communicate decisions by the 2 April 2019.
Conditions of funding
All successful applicants will need to pay their costs up-front and then submit receipts in order to be refunded ahead of time or at the conference. (An inability to pay up-front should not discourage you from applying for funds as exceptions can be made in cases where this is not possible.) If a funded delegate is unable to attend the conference, they may be asked to return the full sum, if the circumstances merit it. Receipts are required in order to receive funding. These are the conditions accepted in applying for the funds.
