Africa Study group
The formation of the Development Studies Association (DSA) Africa study group emerged as a result of a meeting held between the DSA President, Prof. Sarah White and Researchers from the global South on the 28th June 2018, during the DSA Conference in Manchester. At the meeting, it was generally agreed that in order to stimulate DSA interest among Researchers from Africa and increase DSA members on the continent, there is the need to form the DSA Africa study group. Since this is the first and only DSA Africa study group, its interests and thematic areas of focus will be broad development studies issues, cutting across different disciplines and themes but relating to the development in Africa. Issues such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be at the centre of our discussions. The DSA Africa study group has the aim of engaging with Scholars and Practitioners interested in development issues, to facilitate a network among them. The study group welcomes members from Universities, Research Institutions, NGOs, government and private organizations.
