Contributions from the Journal of Development Studies, University College Dublin and the DSA allow DSA2026 conference organisers to allocate limited funds for accepted authors, convenors, chairs, and discussants to attend the DSA, either online or in person at the University College Dublin, 8-10 July 2026. The funds are for both online and face-to-face (F2F) delegates.
The rules and criteria are straightforward:
Deadline for applications: 20 February 2026
No request for funding is guaranteed as we expect demand to be greater than the availability of support.
If you have any questions email us conference(at)devstud.org.uk
Online delegates: Funding awarded will be allocated as a registration fee waiver in our system, meaning you will either pay nothing for registration or a discounted registration fee. Please do not pay your registration fee until you hear the funding results.
F2F delegates: The initial portion of funding will be allocated as a registration fee waiver in our system; any allocation exceeding that will be remitted to recipients’ bank accounts on receipt of electronic receipts for visa, travel and accommodation costs.
Conditions of funding: All successful applicants will need to pay their costs up-front and then submit receipts in order to be refunded ahead of time or at the conference. (An inability to pay up-front should not discourage you from applying for funds as exceptions can be made in cases where this is not possible.) If a funded delegate is unable to attend the conference, they may be asked to return the full sum, if the circumstances merit it. Receipts are required in order to receive funding. These are the conditions accepted in applying for the funds.
