Our Council members are volunteers from the development studies community

How we’re run

The DSA is a registered charity. It is run by a Council whose members are Trustees of the charity. The Council is made up of the President, Secretary, Treasurer and twelve elected members. These are all volunteers.

Council members stand for a three year term. They are elected each year at our AGM, which takes place during our annual conference. The Council can also have up to three co-opted members. At present we have one co-opted member, who represents our links with EADI, the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes.

Most members of Council are based in universities or development organisations in the UK. Two members of Council are based in the global South, and elected directly by global South members.

If you are interested in standing for Council and would like to know more, contact our Secretary
