University recognises Amazonian leader driving climate justice and education access across Brazil

Professor Marcel do Nascimento Botelho has been honoured with a prestigious award at the University of Wolverhampton Alumni Awards 2025. The awards celebrate alumni from across the globe for outstanding contributions in fields such as business innovation, humanitarian work, and professional excellence.

This year, Professor Botelho received the Changemaker Award in recognition of his exceptional achievements and lasting impact on the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (UFRA), its students, and the wider society of Pará State, Brazil. His award reflects not only his personal dedication and leadership but also embodies the University’s mission to empower graduates to make a meaningful difference in the world.

Professor Botelho, a former graduate student of CIDT, received his PhD in Development, Training and Education from the Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences (FABSS) at the University of Wolverhampton in 2008.
