Horizontal Development: Shifting Power and Privilege in Aid: book launch event

WICID and the Centre for Studies in Democratisation at Warwick jointly celebrate the launch of this new book through a panel discussion with all three authors – Dr Shonali Banerjee (University of Warwick), Professor Anne-Meike Fechter (University of Sussex), and Dr Thabani Mutambasere (University of Edinburgh).

By providing an overview of newer iterations and overlooked practices in development, the book explores the extent to which they disrupt existing models and potentially lead to more equitable grassroots-led approaches. The authors develop the concept of ‘horizontal development’ to examine how power and privilege operate in international and local horizontal development spaces. Examining challenges, they also highlight opportunities for doing things differently in light of prominent calls for decolonising aid and development.

This event will take place on Thursday 11 December, 16:00-18:00 in room OC1.09 (The Oculus, University of Warwick campus). To attend, please register here. All are welcome.
