UEA DEV researcher wins double scholarship

Georgia Oliver, who recently completed her Masters in Environment and Global Development with Distinction, has been awarded a scholarship from the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association and the prestigious Oxford Farming Conference Scholarship Programme to attend events related to the annual Oxford Farming Conference. The 2026 conference theme, ‘Growing Resilience’ focuses on adapting to the many challenges facing farming and finding opportunities to build environmental sustainability. The RNAA selected Georgia as a candidate for the national level scholarship, and she was awarded one of just 12 scholarships nationwide for the OFC’s flagship Scholarship Programme.

The first scholar event brought together OFC Scholars, Progressive Young Farmers and ‘Breaking Barriers’ Scholars to explore how major buyers are investing in resilient, lower-impact supply chains. Next up: a skills-focused day at Harper Adams University of networking, shaping conversations, and communicating research with clarity.

“This experience has already been valuable in helping me build my confidence to engage with young farmers and scholars across the UK”, said Georgia Oliver.

Dr Natasha Grist, John Innes Foundation Fellow at NISD, added, “We are delighted to see Georgia’s progress. She won the RNAA-NISD Norfolk International Scholarship earlier this year, and has built on this with dedicated commitment to secure further scholarships to support her career development”
