Call for Co-Convenor: DSA Gender and Development Study Group
The DSA Gender and Development Study Group is seeking a new co-convenor to join the team and help shape the next phase of the group.
After more than five years as co-convenor, Dr Mirna Guha is stepping down. We are very grateful to Mirna for her contributions to the Study Group and her work over the years.
Dr Sharmila Parmanand and Dr Reetika Subramanian will continue as convenors and are now looking for one new co-convenor. They are particularly keen to strengthen the group’s activities and create more regular opportunities for members to connect. Alongside participation in next year’s DSA conference, we hope to organise online reading groups, work-in-progress sessions and conversations on emerging research and debates in gender and development.
The Study Group’s focus remains on gender and development scholarship, pedagogy and practice through a decolonial lens. We welcome applications from someone who is interested in helping to develop this agenda and build an active, engaged community around it.
How to apply
Please send:
- a one-page CV; and
- a one-page statement outlining your interest in the role, what you would bring to the convening team, and your ideas for the Study Group over the next few years.
Please email your application to Dr Reetika Subramanian ([email protected]) and Dr Sharmila Parmanand ([email protected]), using the subject line ‘Application for Convenor, DSA Gender and Development Study Group’.
Deadline: 15 November 2026.
If you have questions about the role or the application, please feel free to contact the convenors. Depending on the number of applications, a small group of applicants may be invited for a short conversation before the final selection.
We look forward to welcoming a new co-convenor and working together to keep the Study Group lively, engaged and growing.
