Brief Obituary:  Professor Anthony Clunies-Ross
(9 March 1932 – 16 March 2015)


We are sad to announce the death of Emeritus Professor Anthony Clunies-Ross (1932 – 2015) – from a massive heart attack on Monday, 16 March. An Australian by birth, Anthony had a distinguished academic career. A graduate of Melbourne and Cambridge Universities, he mainly taught at Monash University in Melbourne, the University of Papua New Guinea and the University of Strathclyde. He also taught briefly at the University of Melbourne (in history), and part-time at the University of Glasgow, with additional short teaching assignments at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Government College University Lahore and the University of  Peshawar, and a six-month research period at the University of the Philippines. However, he spent a large part of his academic career at Strathclyde University, joining in 1975 and teaching here until recently.
